Today we have the wonderful debut author, Sandra Harris on Spotlight on Writers. Sandra writes sci fi romance and fantasy romance filled with steamy love, action and adventure. And if you haven’t yet checked out, Alien Mine – you should, its a great read.
Hi I’m Sandra Harris and I write science fiction romance novels with heroines who are not necessarily kick-ass, but definitely have a backbone. Alien, Mine is my debut novel, published with Soul Mate Publishing, and was released in June this year. I began writing as a hobby in 1987 and, like a lot of writers, my first book blew out to in excess of 130K–I couldn’t find the end!
SE, I’ve opted to do the character interview with my hero, General Eugen Mhartak…..
Hi Eugen Mhartak & welcome. We’re so excited to have you here today.
Thank you, Ssileela Gilchrist, it is my pleasure to meet you.
Tell us a little about yourself
I am a general in the Tri-Race Alliance Army. My primary professional duty is to eliminate the Bluthen, a self-centered predatory species, from Alliance space.
What is your favourite season of the year & why?
Unlike your planet, the axis of mine has no tilt, so our seasons are not produced by the same phenomenon. That is not to say we don’t have seasons. Our orbit is marginally eccentric, I believe you would call it elliptical, and we experience our seasons because of this. When our planet is furthest from the sun we endure winter, when it is closest, we enjoy summer, that is to say the entire planet experiences the same season at the same time, though to varying degrees. As I am often off world, I would have to say that I appreciate being home whatever the season.
What would you do on a date on a snowy evening?
When the snow blankets the mountains near our home, my mate, a magnificent human woman from Australia, and I enjoy a brisk walk under the stars. The air is so clear and crisp the stars seem to snap in the night sky. Then we retire to the warmth of a fire in the main living area where I cannot help but tuck her into my side as we enjoy a mug of Angrigan tea before retiring to our chamber.
What would you do on a date on a hot summer’s night?
As a gentleman, I would prefer not to go into details.
When it’s cold & miserable outside, what makes you laugh?
More often than not, our caped lizard, Dexter. His, shall we say . . . amorous, antics with a particular rug prove quite entertaining.
Tell us about a memory from your childhood.
When I was very young, my parents took my brother and I to a blessëd grotto. It seemed to me that the atmosphere held the same protective, loving aura, only amplified, as my mother. In scooped out bowls in the rock, sacred n’rilan nectar from the Flowers of g’Nel glowed moss green, scattered with flecks of gold.
I found the same colour in my mate’s eyes.
What is the most creative gift you would give your loved one?
Unfortunately, I am not creative. The best gift I give my loved one is support. And might I say that is no mean feat, her impulsive actions have often scared hells’ levels out of me.
What anniversary or special day do you celebrate?
We celebrate the date of my mate’s liberation from the Bluthen.
And how do you celebrate it?
We destroy a piece of Bluthen technology with as much explosive as we can marshal—and might I say my rank ensures this is extensive.
Torn from modern day Earth and stranded on the far side of the Galaxy, Sandrea Fairbairn must use every particle of courage she possesses to adjust to her new life and live for tomorrow.
